IMPHAL, April 15: The “Indian National Army Day” celebrations were organized on 14 Apr 2011 at IB Hill Sendra, Moirang under the aegis of Loktak Brigade. Members of Akhil Bhartiya Poorva Sainik Seva Parishad were felicitated and a lunch was organized in their honour by Red Shield Division. Brig Laove Verma, SM, Commander of Loktak Brigade and Brig Surendra Mehta, Commander of 27 Sector Assam Rifles graced the occasion. Addressing the function, Brig Laove Verma, SM, Commander of Loktak Brigade under aegis of Red Shield Division welcomed the Ex Servicemen and lauded their efforts for undertaking the journey to Manipur.
Moirang has a historical importance for being a centre stage of activities in freedom struggle by INA in Indian Territory. People of Moirang had extended their invaluable support to INA towards achieving their goals. Moirang is the place where INA hoisted Indian Flag for the first time on 14 Apr 1944 under Colonel Saukat Ali Malik. This day is celebrated every year with great zeal and enthusiasm and Akhil Bhartiya Poorva Sainik Seva Parishad (ABPSSP) has been closely associated with the event over the years.
