IMPHAL November 21: Five numbers of skill development programme for handicraft artisans was inaugurated by director of Commerce and Industries Department V Tualthang at the conference hall of the department today.
The skill development programs are sponsored by the National Centre for Design and Product Development (NCDPD), New Delhi and organized by the Commerce and Industries Department,Manipur. Each program will impart training to twenty skilled artisans for the duration of five days. Wood carving and Jewellery, hand embroidery, artistic textiles, Cane and bamboo, Kouna and Chumthang, hand embroidery etc. Eminent designers , resource persons will deliver lectures to the participants by using latest equipment’s to make the participants fully aware about the craft.
The objective of the skill development program is to upgrade the skill of the artisans for enabling to produce attractive and saleable crafts and capture markets abroad, a release by OSD of the department S Birendra said.
