Imphal, Jan 16 NNN: Manipur will be provided 42,000 personnel of security forces or 350 companies of paramilitary forces, including police personnel from other States for the forthcoming Assembly polls where 218 companies of security forces have already been arrived and being utilized across nine districts of the State which will go on poll on January 28, official sources said Monday.
A total of 350 companies that include CRPF, BSF, ITBP, SSB, Assam Rifles, Orissa police, RPF, Bihar police, Andhra Pradesh police, Mizoram police, Tripura police, Jharkhand police and CISF will spread out in the nine districts on election duty.
Maximum security forces that numbered 55 companies will be deployed in Thoubal district from where the present Chief Minister Okram Ibobi will be contesting the general elections, and out of these, 27 companies have already been utilized in the district.
Imphal West and Senapati districts will have the second largest number of security deployment and that the two districts will have 50 companies each. The districts have already been using 28 companies and 44 companies respectively.
In Imphal East district, 27 companies have already been deployed and more companies will be added to make a total of 45 companies for these two districts.
Chandel district, which only has two Assembly Constituencies, will have the lowest number of security deployment of 20 companies and out of these 14 has already been arrived.
In Churachandpur district, where 30 companies have already been deployed, will have a total of 41 companies.
For Ukhrul and Tamenglong districts, 30 companies each will be provided where 12 companies and 21 companies have already started been deployed respectively. Bishnupur district will be provided a total of 28 companies where 15 companies have already been utilized. Out of the 350 companies, one company will be kept in reserve, the official sources added.
