Three workers of Congress President Gaikhangam were shot at by suspected Naga militants at Tamenglong district today. Bomb attacks on Congress candidates and workers continued today unabated. Three bombs were found at the residences of worker of Ph Parijat, Minister. A bomb also exploded at Kakching killing two dogs as Manipur goes to poll on Jan 28 next.
Meanwhile a bomb exploded last night at Kakching killing two dogs. The blast occurred near the residence of a Congress worker. In another incident a Congress worker was fired at Lamding however he managed to escape unhurt. He is a worker of Congress candidate of Khangabok, O Landhoni who is the wife of Chief Minister O Ibobi. The residence of Andro Congress candidate, Th Shyamkumar was also attacked by gunmen. A bomb was found by police today at Khuyathong near the residence of a Congress worker.
Three supporters of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Gaikhangam were shot and wounded by
suspected NSCN-IM cadres at Noney under Nungba Constituency of Tamenglong district in the wee hours of today, according to the
family members of the victims.

At around 2 this morning, at Noney part-3, suspected NSCN-IM cadres numbering about 10 intruded upon a house belonging to one of
the three Congress workers where they were staying together and shot them in the legs before they were driven from their beds, the
victims relatives said.

The trio was shifted to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) on Tuesday for medical treatment and they are now out of danger,
hospital sources said. The wounded persons have been identified as Gongloon, 20, Lungkhurei, 29 and Gongchumei, 31 of None part-3.
They are supporters of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Gaikhangam who is contesting the January 28 Manipur
polls from Nungba constituency, police said.

Meanwhile, three bombs were retrieved by a Manipur police bomb squad team at Lamlai Constituency, while one was found at Kakching
Constituency and suspected CorCom (co-ordination committee of seven militant outfits) militants attacked different residences of
Congress workers in Khangabok and Andro Constituencies on Tuesday.

Also yesterday, a Manipur police bomb squad team recovered some explosive materials suspected to be IED from the residence of
Huidrom Bimol, 45 of Nongpok Kakching in Lamlai Constituency, while an IED was also found at the residence of Moirangthem Major, 42
of Noingren Awang Leikai Awang Khunou. The two are supporters of CPI candidate Ph Parijat, also contesting the general elections.

Suspected militants hurled a hand grenade and exploded at the house of Kshetrimayum Chaoba of kakching Sumang Leikai, killing two
dogs, but no human casualty was reported. Cor com claimed responsibility for the following incidents.
1. Laiphrakpam Khomdon of Yairipok Yambem Mathak Leikai, on 23rd night around 10 rds of shots fired
2. Ayekpam Ibomcha of Yairipok Yambem Mathak Leikai, on 23rd night around 10 rds of shots fired

IMPHAL, Jan 24: The district Magistrate of Senapati district has sent out a directive regarding licensed arms holders of the district who have not deposited their arms to their nearest police station. The directive has asked for the said persons to show cause as to why their arms license should not be cancelled for violation of instructions of the Election Commission of India. It may be mentioned that all licensed fire arm holders within the jurisdiction of Senapati district had earlier been asked to deposit their fire arms to the nearest police station with effect from 31st December, 2011 till the election process to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly 2012 got over. The directive has called for written explanations to be submitted to the District magistrate on or before 3 p.m. of January 25 during office hours, failing which arms licenses would be cancelled.
