Imphal, Feb 12: 30 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQIGAR(S) organised a medical camp on 12 February 2012 at Sekta village in the Imphal East district. The idea of camp was conceived due to poor medical infrastructure in the villages which are away from the main hinterland. The camp was organised at a large scale to render the basic medical aids to the villagers residing in the area surrounding Sekta.
About 500 patients were rendered medical attention and free medicines. Moreover combined team of doctors from 30 Assam Rifles and RIMS hospital addressed the locals and educated them on the need of the hygiene and sanitation and precautions to be taken to avoid sexually transmitted diseases. The camp was attended by the denizens of Sekta, Huidrom and Pundongbam villages.
In another occasion, 37 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector organized a Leprosy Awareness programme on 11 February 2012 at Tuikong village of Chandel district along Indo – Myanmar border. The event was conducted by a team of medical officer and paramedical staff of the Unit. Medical check up and lecture extended to more 150 villagers.
