NEW DELHI, Feb 29: The Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram presented the Report Card of Ministry of Home Affairs for February, 2012 in New Delhi today.
Speaking on the occasion he informed that he had chaired a meeting of Chief Secretaries and DGsP of 9 LWE-affected States on February 22, 2012 and reviewed the issues concerning Left Wing Extremism. The progress of implementation of Road Requirement Plan (RRP) and PMGSY in LWE-affected areas was also discussed in the meeting.
On February 3, 2012, an Office Memorandum was issued notifying the decision to set up the NCTC.
At the Second Home Ministers’ Level talks between India and Bangladesh on February 23-26, 2012, issues related to security, border management and enhancement of cooperation between law enforcement agencies were discussed.
A meeting of the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Home Affairs on February 28, 2012 was held to discuss the subject of “Investigation, Prosecution and Trial” and the recommendations of the Justice Malimath Commission and the Law Commission in this regard for making suitable changes in the laws.
He said that the terrorist incident in which an explosive device was attached to the vehicle in which the wife of an Israeli diplomat was traveling is being investigated by the Delhi Police.
The Intelligence Training School of CRPF at Kadarpur, Gurgaon was inaugurated by the Home Minister on February 8, 2012.
On February 18, 2012, he inaugurated the Regional NSG Hub at Kolkata. I also visited the Bru/Reang refugee camps at Naisingpara, Tripura and held a security review meeting with the Chief Minister of Tripura and senior officials of the Government of Tripura. On February 19, 2012, he visited Guwahati, Assam and Shillong, Meghalaya and held security review meetings with the Chief Ministers and senior officials of the two States. On February 23, 2012, he inaugurated the Institute of IED Management at Group Centre CRPF, Talegaon, District Pune. Later, I inaugurated the Regional NSG Hub’s permanent headquarters at Mumbai.
