Imphal, Mar 25: 27 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under HQ IGAR(S) organized a fifteen-day long tour comprising of 20 Students and five teachers from the remote areas of Thoubal District in Manipur to Delhi and Agra from 09 to 24 Mar. The children mostly in the age group between 13 to 16 years hail from remote far flung areas of Thoubal District, Manipur. The tour culminated with the “Flag In” Ceremony at Mantripukhri on 25 March. Maj Gen U K Gurung, YSM, IGAR (S) received the jubilant children and the accompanying teachers. A large number of Civil Dignitaries were also present during the ceremony. The IGAR (S) took a keen interest in sharing the stories of the tour with the students and more so regarding the ineffaceable moments and the interactive sessions they had in Delhi. The aim of the educational tour was to provide the much needed exposure to young children about varied developments that are taking place in the rest of the country and to introduce them to the cultures, people and landscapes which make up our great Nation. Delhi is the cultural, and political seat of the government of our country. During their visit to Delhi, the children interacted with many distinguished personalities including the Defence Minister, Mr A K Antony.
