Imphal, Mar 27: Continuing with its philanthropic work and reaching out to the youth of Manipur, 28 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 9 Sector Assam Rifles of HQ IGAR (S) alongwith students of Manipur University organized a seminar on “How joining the Defence/Uniformed Services has transformed the life of Manipuri Youth & Impacted the State in Social & Economic Spheres “on 27 Mar 2012 at Manipur Institute of Management Studies, Manipur University.
The seminar was attended by various dignitaries including officiating Vice – Chancellor of Manipur University Brig Navneet Kumar, Cdr 9 Sector AR and Prof L Tombi Singh,. Mr E Binoy Kumar Singh, Retd Chief Engineer, PWD and former President, Manipur Olympic Association, moderated the Seminar. Mrs Victoria Y Dhiman, DSP, Traffic, IW Manipur Police, Mr N Ibungochoubi, Executive Editor Manipur Mail, Col S K Sapam, Col 14th Manipur Bn NCC were speakers during the seminar. Deans, HoDs of various department of MU and approximate 100 student from all stream also attended the seminar. All panelist presented their views and a very healthy discussion was witnessed by all present. Brig Navneet Kumar,Cdr,9 Sector expressed his gratitude especially to the speakers for their participation and presented mementos and token of appreciation to them.
The effort was a step towards fostering closer interaction with the Youth and Security Forces. There was enthusiasm and active participation from the student of Manipur University on how to foster peaceful coexistence within the communities in the State.
