Imphal, Mar 28: The Manipur Library Association (MALA) congratulated its four life members on their recent achievements in their life. The MALA family extends heartfelt gratefulness and congratulation to Shri Karam Shyam Singh, a life member of the same, who has won in the Lok Jana Sakti Party ticket in the last 1 Oth Manipur Legislative Assembly Election-2012 representing Langthabal – A/C. The association is so happy that a life member of the same has become an honourable MLA of the State Assembly and expects certain things from him towards making the long pending “The Manipur Public Libraries Act, 1988” implemented in its true spirit as early as possible. Shri Karam Shyam Singh who has joined recently Shri O. Ibobi Singh led Congress Government will be honoured by the Association in a Felicitation Function to be organised soon.
The Association also congratulates its other three life members namely (1) Kumari Sarangthem Bemebm (2) Smt. Naorem Vidyavati Devi and (3) Smt. Arambam Hileima Devi on achieving Doctor of Philosophy in Library and Information Science from Manipur University very recently. It can be recalled that Bembem, Vidyavati and Hileima carried out research studies leading to Ph.D. on the topics (1) Information Seeking Behaviour in Digital Environment:
A Study of the Social Scientists of Manipur (2) Information Seeking Behaviour of the Political Leaders in Manipur and (3) A Comparative Study of Staff Management in Different Types of Libraries in Manipur respectively. Their respective research guides were (1) Dr. Ch. Ibohal Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Library and Information Science, MU (2) Dr. Th. Madhuri Devi, Associate Professor and (3) Dr. Th. Purnima Devi, Associate Professor and Head of the said Department.
It is hope that our respected life members will contribute their knowledge of research for the welfare of the society and for the promotion and development of libraries in the sate as well.
