Imphal. April 27 NNN: In an effort to spread peace and harmony by walking 3,00,000 kilometres, a 20 member team reached Imphal on April 26.
The team had already entered the Limca Book of Records and they have now walked 2,00,040 kilometres crossing 6 countries of Asia – China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal, stated one of the members of the team to media persons in a press conference at the premises of the directorate of information and public relations, Imphal.
Though these 20 persons are also likely to enter in the Guinness Book of World Record, the objective of the team is to encourage good relationship between countries, to urge people to control adverse global climatic change, to bring awareness about global warming and its consequences, to preserve the Indian culture and heritage and to prevent abortion of unborn girl child, stated the leader of the team.
The team is led by Awad Biharilal, chairman of the journey, Mahendra Pratap, managing director of the journey, and Jitendra Pratap, director of the journey.
They disclosed that the 3 lakh kilometres journey on foot was started on June 15, 1995 at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and the journey will continue by going to Aizawl in Mizoram, Agartala in Tripura and Sikkim, all in India. After that the team would be going into China, it was further disclosed by the leader of the team.
