Imphal, June 10 : Maj Gen Binoy Poonnen, VSM, GOC Red Shield Division today visited the PNBA Church at Senapati Town and extended his wishes to the local people of Senapati. He addressed a gathering of about 800 people . He reiterated that development and peace are partners in progress of any society and thus the people of Senapati must always make an endeavour to choose the path of peace and tranquility.
Later the GOC visited Mt Everest College and felicitated the students for their outstanding performance in various faculties.
The General emphasised that the youth are the foundation of the society and the next generation should have the desire and fire in them to achieve excellence. Maj Gen Binoy Poonnen, VSM also felicitated ten achievers by presenting them certificates and mementos.
The General also laid the foundation stone for one of the largest stadium in Senapati District at Emisiphro Village. The stadium is being constructed with constant support of Red Shield Division.
The General reiterated that the Red Shield Division is always committed to provide assistance and relief to the people of Manipur. The event at Mt Everest College was witnessed by more than 400 people, largely including the students and their parents and residents of nearby villages.
