Imphal, June 13 NNN: The Communist Party of India (CPI) accused the UPA government at the Centre of making the people to live in hardship. The CPI said it would protest infront of the Parliament House at the end of this month for five days.
Speaking to media persons today in Imphal at the sideline of a reception function organised in honour of Sudhakar Reddy, the newly elected national general secretary of the CPI by the Manipur unit of the party, A.B Bardhan said the UPA government has been the cause of hardship being experienced by the common people in the country. He said the hiking of petroleum price for several times in a short span has brought the common to bite dust.
New national general secretary of CPI Sudhakar Reddy said the party would carry out sit in protest for five days infront of the Parliament House in the latter part of this month against the petroleum price hike.
Meanwhile, CPI stalwart A.B Bardhan said the party is all out to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur. He said the CPI will always be there opposing against any force that attempts to disintegrate the territorial integrity of Manipur.
On the Loitam Richard murder case, A B Bardhan said CPI general secretary Sudhakar Reddy and other party leaders will go to Bangalore on June 15 to press the Karnataka government for the handing over of the murder case to the CBI. ‘We know the student was assaulted brutally and murdered,” fumes A.B Bardhan. He expressed dissatisfaction over the Karnataka government move of handing over the case to the CID. “Why CID? The government should give the case to a more independent investigating agency like the CBI,” suggested Bardhan.
