Imphal, July 3 : The State Assembly today witnessed exchange of fiery words between Chief Minister, O Ibobi and Dr L Ibohalbi of TC over the recently held medical entrance examination. Opposition MLAs today raised the issue of alleged failure of the government to conduct the medical entrance test well. Dr I Ibohalbi of the Trinamol Congress and L Ibomcha of the NCP raised a call attention motion in the House today.
L Ibomcha said the entrance examinations were conducted by sidelining the rules and regulations. The Health department issued the merit lists three times which caused lots of confusion he added.
Dr L Ibohalbi said MS Exxon Automation Pvt Ltd which was entrusted the task of setting question informed after the declaration of result that there was an error in one of the questions and a second list was issued. Exxon again issued a third list saying that there was a programme error while the second list was issued.
Those selected in the first list were not selected and there were changes in the merit list. It is a tough examination and there should be no room for error, Dr Ibohalbi said. The two Opposition MLAs demanded that blacklisting MS Exxon is not the solution but the House should take up some actions in this regard.
Chief Minister, O Ibobi said the episode was embarrassing and after declaration of results three candidates challenged the key and when experts analysed the question set by Exxon it was found that the students were correct. The second list was issued after correcting the error. Mr Ibobi said there are about 142 medical seats allotted for Manipur and steps will be taken up to ensure that such error is not repeated. Human and programme errors do occur and there should be a fuss over an error. Dr Ibohalbi said one question makes lots of differences. The House also started taking up discussion on the budget which was introduced by Chief Minister yesterday.
During question hour, Dr Kh Ratan , Minister GAD informed that Manipur Bhawan at Guwahati will be inaugurated within August this year. Works are at Kolkata to construct a Manipur Bhawan. Progress will depend on availability of fund he said replying to a question raised by Dr L Ibohalbi.
