Troops of 10 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Red Shield Division apprehended two over ground workers of ZUF and NSCN (K) from the Noney Bazar area in Tamenglong on 10 Jul 2012 while they were carrying out extortion from vehicles plying on NH-37. During the search, they were found taking money from TATA SUMO vehicles carrying passengers from Imphal to Jiribam. The apprehendees have been identified as Robinson s/o Karam Singh of village Lukhambi – II district Tamenglong and Dinchui Rongmei, s/o hubi Rongmei of village Thiulon, district Tamenglong. A number of mobiles sets with SIM cards, extortion money, cash receipts etc were seized from their possession. The apprehendees were handed over to Imphal West Police Station.
