Imphal, July 28: Chief Minister Shri O. Ibobi Singh today visited Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal in connection with its upgradation under 13th Finance Commission Award 2010-2015.
The Chief Minister visited indoor stadium, shooting range, boxing arena, NSA football ground, hockey stadium, archery pavilion, indoor weightlifting hall, fencing, wushu, sepak takraw cricket ground, main stadium, rowing canal, swimming pool etc and saw for himself the infrastructures and sports facilities of the different disciplines. The Chief Minister was seen to ponder on some of the sad state of available sports infrastructures. He also inquired of the players and got a first-hand report of the situation.
After his threadbare inspection, the Chief Minister had a discussion with coaches and concerned officials in the conference hall of MOA Bhavan. He stated that an amount of Rs 100 crores has been sanctioned under 13th Finance Commission Award 2010 -2015 for upgradation of Khuman Lampak Sports Complex. A sub-committee will be formed to expedite the project and the upgradation work will be taken up soon priority-wise, he added.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by MOA President Shri Bijoy Koijam, MLA Shri Prithiviraj, State Information Commisioner Shri Ch. Birendra Singh, Commissioner (A&C) Shri R.K. Nimai, Director (YAS) Shri H. Deleep Singh and other concerned officials during the inspection.
