Imphal, Aug 2 : 59 Mtn Bde celebrated its 50th raising day on 01 Aug 2012. A guest lunch was organised on 30 Jul 2012 to mark the event which was graced by Maj Gen Binoy Poonen, GOC, Red Shield Division. He exhorted troops to continue maintaining the high standards through professionalism, dedication and devotion to duty on the occasion of 50th raising day of the Senapati Brigade.
The Brigade has been deployed in Manipur for the past 30 years ever since its raising on 01 Aug 1963 and has contributed immensely towards maintaining peace and tranquility in the region.
Lieutenant General AK Sahni, SM, VSM, GOC 3 Corps, in his special order of the day has extended his best wishes to all ranks of 59 Mountain Brigade. He also expressed that he was happy to note that the ranks and file of the Brigade have braved the harsh terrain, weather conditions and fulfilled the role and task assigned with utmost dedication and fortitude. Brig SK Sharma, Commander 59 Mountain Brigade, extended his good wishes to all ranks and their families on the occasion of the 50th raising day. He further stated that they must continue to maintain professionalism, dedication and an exemplary sense of duty with a ‘people friendly’ approach.
On 2nd of August a social event was organized in Senapati, which saw the conglomeration of the native population of Senapati, various civil dignitaries and the ranks and file of the Army.
