The case of the 24-year-old Manipuri boy who was beaten up by four men inside a Goa-bound train on August 25 was registered the next day. The case has been registered in P.S. Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station, New Delhi under section 3940/34 of IPC 1860. The victim boarded Goa Express for Madgaun, Goa from Nizamuddin railway station at 3.15 PM on August 25. The victim was inside the train Coach No. S-1 when four men suddenly barged in and physically assaulted and robbed his belongings — two mobile phones (Nokia & Micromax), gold neck chain (wt. 10 gm which cost Rs 45,000) and his wallet containing Rs 5000 in cash. They also took his two bags which contained important documents and clothes.
The four men repeatedly punched, smashed and kicked the boy on his face, chest and on his back. The boy miraculously escaped from the brunt of the attackers. He suffered severe pains and his lips were swollen when the NESCH fact finding team visited him at his relative’s home in Munirka on August 26 evening.
Soon after the North East Support Centre & Helpline team informed the matter to Robin Hibu, Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police, he immediately sent a team of police who brought the victim to Safdarjung hospital for medical examination on August 26 evening.
“A case of robbery and assault was registered. Police have taken the statement of the victim, the FIR has been forwarded to railway police,” said Robin Hibu. “The stolen mobile phones are under surveillance. I had spoken to railway senior cops about the incident and approached MPs for more security.
