The 47th hunger marchers day was observed today organized by AMSU. Students led by AMSU President Thokchom Suresh paid floral tributes at Pishum Chingamacha and a rally was taken out. AMSU Gen Secy Dipanjit said students pay more emphasis on struggle for existence than education. Without right to life there can not be right to education. The north eastern region has no institutes for higher studies.
Rather than giving thoughts on education, development people of NE are tortured and killed he added.
Gen Secy of Nupi Samaj, Ramani who took part in the 1965 incident said people were not able to get food as rice was transported to other states. The then Commissioners failed to distribute rice. Former Presidents and other leaders addressed the function.
