IMPHAL, Sept 14 MNS/NNN: At least three people were killed and 10 others injured after a Tata truck and a packed Maruti Gypsy collided at Maibam Lokpa Ching Mamang under Nambol Police Station, Bishnupur district of Manipur just before midday on Friday.
The injured were taken to Shija hospital, Imphal where they are now receiving treatment. Six out of the 10 who have sustained injuries in the road mishap are reported to be critical.
The victims are identified as Samina,45, wife of Noor Mohamad, a resident of kwakta in Bishnupr district but presently staying at Hatta Golapati here, Md Afzal,18, son of Md Hussain from Heibungmakhong Khelakhong, Thoubal district and Ruksana,15, daughter of Sanatomba of Hatta Golapati. Ruksana succumbed at the Shija hospital.
The mishap occurred around 11:30 am after a Tata truck and a Maruti Gypsy, both were driving in high speed, had a head-on-crash at Maiba Lok Ching Mamang, killing two passengers of the Gypsy on the spot and injuring anoher 10.
Reports said around 15 passengers were traveling in the Maruti Gypsy.
Both the vehicles were overturned by the impact of the collision and badly damaged.The truck was heading towards Bishnupur from Imphal and the Maruti Gypsy was coming towards Imphal from Kwakta when the fatal accident happened.
