Imphal, Oct 20 : Discovering the movement of UG cadres at Maokot of Ukhrul district , troops of 16 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR(S) launched operation in the area and apprehended one over ground worker of KCP on 19 Oct 12. The apprehendee was identified as Lh Paothang Khongsai, 50yrs, s/o Late Horgang, r/o Maokot Chepu, Litan, Ukhrul. Two SLR rounds, nine rounds of Single barrel 12 Bore Gun, 50 gms of Gun powder, six detonators, six pistol Cap (Initiator) 200 gms of Bearing ball, 600gms of Plastic explosives, 50 gms of yellow Substance suspected to be explosive were recovered from the apprehendee who alongwith recoveries was handed over to Litan Police station.
Security Forces of the Red Shield Division and Bishnupur Police Commandos launched an operation on 19 Oct 2012 at Bishnupur and apprehended one over ground worker of KYKL, namely Wahengbam Markanto Singh alias Umakanta alias Ahal age 58 years, s/o Late W Ibomcha Singh, r/o Nambol Kongkham Mayai Keikai, PS Nambol, Dist Bishnupur and recovered one 9mm pistol, one magazine, three live rounds and one hand grenade (Foreign made) from his house. On questioning, individual revealed that he has been involved in trafficking of weapons and explosive for the outfit. The man was handed over to Bishnupur Police Station.
