New Delhi, Nov. 8 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veteran Lal Krishna Advani on Thursday said that he has no ambitions to become the Prime Minister now, and added that his party has given him much more admiration than the topmost post of the country.
“BJP and the country has give me much more than becoming the Prime Minister,” he told mediapersons on his 85th birthday.
Russian Ambassador to India, Alexander Kadakin, and BJP President Nitin Gadkari were among those who wished Advani on the occasion earlier in the day.
The Russian envoy, who was one of the early visitors at Advani’s official residence here, touched the BJP veteran’s feet on the latter’s birthday.
Gadkari also visited Advani, who is apparently unhappy over his continuance as the BJP President, to wish him on his birthday.
The meeting between Advani and Gadkari, who has been under attack from various quarters after a media expose of the alleged dubious funding of a company run by him, lasted for around 15 minutes.
BJP leader Vijay Jolly, who briefed mediapersons about Gadkari’s meeting with Advani, played down reports of the BJP veteran being upset with the party chief.
“The manner in which Gadkari greeted and welcomed Advaniji it seemed that a son was wishing his farther and taking blessings from him,” he said.
Jolly further accused the opposition of unnecessarily commenting on the non-existing differences within the BJP, and said that the environment within the party was very good.
“I just want to say that the BJP is competent and united under Nitin Gadkari’s leadership and has full faith in his leadership,” he said.
A host of other BJP leaders, including Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley, also visited Advani and wished him on his birthday.
