It is really sad that the state Government pleads the inability to arrest a criminal. Criminals cannot remain above law. Criminals are criminals. Whatever position they hold wherever they belong they must be caught and punished without delay. For the delay in giving punishment to the perpetrator of the crime will backfire. The state is now burning caused by the wild and thoughtless action of a member of an underground organisation. Just as Afghanistan was reduced to ashes following irresponsible acts of Taliban the rebel organisation to which the mad dog belongs too will suffer the same fate. NSCN can save its image by punishing Livingstone who is responsible for burning the state. Every organisation attempts to lift its own image by pushing away those whose presence will drag down the organisation. Political parties maintain political propriety by keeping itself abreast of criminals. We hear quite often leaders of political parties expelling members of the same party found indulging in criminal activities. That way image of the party is lifted. Self styled Lt. Col. of NSCN, Livingstone had committed a heinous crime by molesting a film star, who was engaged for conducting a musical concert. He even fired to those who intervened. He acted like a mad dog attempting to bite everyone around him. Cannot he be tranquilised? Even the wild animal is tranquilised by injecting tranquiliser. Something needs to be done to restore normalcy. Either he should be jailed or NSCN should punish him. In Mahabharat of Hindu mythology Dushashan had his chest torn apart by Bhim and Drapaudi washed her hair with the blood that came out oozing from the torn chest. His crime was he harassed Drapaudi by pulling her sari in a well attended durbar. Livingstone emulated Dushashan’s crime. He forgot where he was and he threw in the wind public decency. He could pull the hair of a girl in full public view. He must pay for the crime committed. He is not fit to be member of any organisation be it underground whatsoever it may be. NSCN must act and expel him from the organisation. In the meanwhile the state Government should leave no stone unturned to punish the mad dog. Our Government cannot plead the inability to touch the thug. There cannot be separate laws to deal with different persons. Female must feel safe living in Manipur. The episode has enflamed the angers of womenfolk and they took to the street demanding punishment for the criminal. Today large number of women came out on the street in different areas and blocked movement of vehicles. Both NSCN and the state Government should feel the harm done to a female artiste. Wounded hearts need to be healed. Chief Minister O. Ibobi had gone to Delhi to meet central leaders to find ways for punishing the molester. Something will surely come of out it. As the NSCN is holding peace talk with the Union Government the state Government is handicapped to take action against the NSCN cadre. How long he will remain elusive. He will be caught. The punishment being meted out should be exemplary so that he will not think of committing the crime again.

According to a release of AMCO, “The All Manipur Christian organization (AMCO) fervently appeals to all our loving brothers and sisters of Manipur to kindly maintain calm and serenity in this trying time while we are all undergoing untold suffering. Let us all strive together to bring about normalcy and harmony in this turbulent State.”
“As we prepare our hearts for the birth of the Prince of peace – Jesus Christ, let us fill our land with love, goodwill, harmony and brotherhood. IMPHAL, December 24: Women Action for Development (WAD) has in a statement express shock over the death of Thangjam Dwijamani @nanao of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai,a stringer of the Guwahati based Prime time News channel in police firing while covering the general strike protesting against the Chandel incident. Stating that the bullet is not a means to bring any probable solution, it said that such incidents highlights the violations of press rights and the death of democracy in the state. Demanding for stern action against those involved in the firing, WAD further appealed to the Government to provide special attention to the family and more so the wife and two minor children of the deceased. Appealing for a secure and safe environment for media to exercise their duties freely, the statement also expressed its deep sorrow and bereavement with the family of Thangjam Dwijamani. It also expressed shock over the violence meted out to Momoko and two other artistes at Chandel and questioned why the Government is yet to take any concrete steps against the accused.

KANGPOKPI, Dec.24: Sadar Hills Women Union have condemned the 18 Dec. incident at Maha Union Higher Secondary School ground, Chandel district headquarters where Manipuri film actress Momoko was molested and assaulted and firing at two other artistes by NSCN-IM Lt Col Livinstone.
Now is the time particularly for the Christian community to celebrate the Birth of Jesus Christ with peace and harmony in the entire state. The scandalous and detestable act of Livingstone is totally against the doctrine of Christianity and disrupts the environment ahead of Christmas informed the Information and Publicity wing of SHWU.
It further said that, the Union supports the indefinite bandh in the State called by Film Forum Manipur, Manipur State Shumang Leela Council and many civil society organizations.
The Union also appealed to the Government to ensure that no such malevolent incidents ever happen again in the future and also appealed to every single individual not to disrupt the peaceful environment of the state ahead and during Christmas and New Year celebration in the interest of the Christian community.

IMPHAL, December 24: A man was found shot to death near Turel Ahanbi Idgah in Thoubal district under Lilong police station this morning at around 6. The deceased has been identified as Md Abdul Hakim, 30, son of Haji Abdul Karim, a resident of Lilong Turel Ahanbi Makha Leikai.
His dead body was found with a bullet hole in the head.Later, the dead body was picked up by the police and deposited at JNIMS morgue.According to a source, he was picked up from his residence this morning at around 5 by some unidentified persons. A JAC has been initiated against the incident.

IMPHAL, December 24: A 23-year-old man was killed and another was seriously injured in a road accident this morning at Tera Khongsangbi under Moirang police station. The deceased has been identified as Letminlen Khongsai, 23, son of Jamthang Khongsai, a resident of Langjing village, Sugnu.
The accident occurred this morning at around 8:30, when the moped they were riding collided with an autorickshaw. Letminlen succumbed to his injury on his way to RIMS while the other injured is being treated at Shija hospital. Moirang police has registered a case in regard to the incident. The dead body was handed over to family members after a post mortem was conducted at RIMS morgue today.

SENAPATI, December 24: The United Naga Council (UNC) has called for a 72 hours bandh in all “Naga areas” starting from the midnight of December 26 saying that the call was being made to register their protest against “communal attacks”.
It said that with the suspension of the indefinite bandh by the Film Forum Manipur and Manipur State Shumang Leela Council with effect from the midnight of December 23, tribals heading for their respective villages for Christmas on December 24 from outside the state and from Imphal valley with state police escorts were attacked, their belongings seized and destroyed and physically assaulted.
The statement further pointed out that there were unbridgeable differences between the Tribals in Manipur and the Meiteis – historically, culturally, socially and even in religion, which has now been brought out in greater clarity and said that the 72 hours bandh will be observed in Naga areas with effect from the midnight of December 26 to the midnight of December 29. All Manipuri video and music CDs/cassettes, dramas and leelas will also be banned in Naga areas with immediate effect, it said.

The organization regretted the negligence of the authority however appreciated the to start repairing from Iroishemba Foothill (Chingjin) upto Naoremthong.
The road is an important one and it stretches from Singda Dam to Khwairamband Bazar and one Lamshang Khurkhul road is also diverted from Lamshang Bazar.
The present condition of this road is horrible and passengers are afraid to travel on the road.
The a 20 km long road is the only vital road for the people of Lamshang, Sekmai and Uripok constituencies for their livelihood.
Patients face problems while taken to hospitals for treatment.

Christmas, celebrated as the birthday of Lord Jesus, has now become a festival which is observed cutting across religion, caste and creed and is now a unifying event. Lord Jesus the apostle of peace was born to build a new world order and he strived for the same based on peace, justice, humility and equality of mankind. While celebrating the anniversary of the birth of the Son of God, besides paying our obeisance to Him, let us re-dedicate ourselves to the ideals He espoused such as love, mercy, forgiveness, oenevolence, compassion and sacrifice for the betterment of the society. We should, in this world full of enmity and hatred, remember his sacrifice for the sins of man. Let us come out from the man made hatred surrounding us and follow the principles propounded by Jesus Christ and messages preached by Him for a better world, where peace reigns and people prosper.
