Imphal, Dec 31 : Governor Gurbachan Jagat gave New Year message and said , “It gives me immense pleasure to warmly wish the people of Manipur, on the occasion of New Year’s Day, 2013.
The year 2012 with all its trials and tribulations has passed leaving all of us a year older. Some of us are happier, some sorrier but it is the law of nature that time and tide wait for no man.
New Year’s Day is an occasion when we make new resolutions for the coming year. While entering 2013, we should advance keeping always our goals fixed on what we want for ourselves and for our State Manipur in the future, learning from our past experiences. We should reaffirm our resolve to supporting the forces of harmony and solidarity irrespective of the differences of caste, creed, language and religion and fight and defeat the evil designs of destructive and divisive forces for a better Manipur and ourselves.
I join the people of Manipur in celebrating New Year’s Day, 2013 and pray to God that the coming year 2013 is a better one as compared to previous years and every one of us will live in a more peaceful and prosperous Manipur. I once again extend my best wishes to everyone in Manipur – a Very Happy New Year’s Day, 2013.”
Chief Minister, O Ibobi said, “I convey my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of Manipur on the joyous occasion of the New Year.
The New Year is an opportunity to make a fresh beginning and to renew our resolve to strive for individual as well as collective well-being. As we enter a new year, let us work with unity and dedication to make Manipur a more peaceful and prosperous State.
May the year 2013 bring prosperity, health and happiness to all of us.”
Various tribal organisations have wished that the coming years will bring peace, understandings among the ethnic communities and prosperity.
On the eve of the New Year, Naga People’s Front (NPF), Jesus Gospel Ministry (JGM), All Manipur Tribal Union (AMTU) and Committee on Protection of Tribal Areas, Manipur (COPTAM) have sent our their greetings to all the people of Manipur and wished that better sense prevails in the society with the coming of 2013.
COPTAM general secretary Thangkam Lupheng wishes that the issues confronting the tribal people of Manipur be paid attention in the coming year by the government. Thangkam Lupheng on behalf of his organisation said the civil society organisations too understand the various issues confronting the hill districts of Manipur.
AMTU general secretary Romeo Bungdon while greeting the people of Manipur with the coming of new year has said that the 2013 should be a year of understanding among the people. He wishes that tribal issues are paid utmost attention by the government.
Manipur State NPF secretary Athuan Abonmai on behalf of his party while greeting the people prays that the coming year lessen the problems in the society. The NPF also wishes that the government is more efficient in its dealings pertaining to the issues confronting the hill districts of Manipur.
JGM chairman Ashang Kasar wishes that the coming year is a year of spiritual growth and understandings amongst the various sections of the people. Ashang Kasar also said with the onset of 2013, killing incidents and other crime cases are done away.
On the eve of the New Year 2013, in a message, the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee has said “We mark the advent of the New Year under a pall of gloom, as the nation mourns the tragic loss of a brave young girl, who became the victim of a heinous crime.
Let us dedicate 2013 to improving the security and welfare of women in our country. Let us use this moment to introspect and earnestly seek ways in which we can address the mindset which lies at the root of such incidents in order that we may achieve dignity and equality for women in our country.
I extend my greetings and best wishes to all my fellow citizens for a purposeful and productive New Year which takes our nation forward to a better future. Let us strive hard to fulfill our unrealized dreams with vigour and determination”.
The Vice President of India Shri M. Hamid Ansari has extended his greetings and best wishes to all citizens on the advent of New Year 2013. In his message he has said that on this joyous occasion, let us collectively resolve to dedicate ourselves to building a peaceful, harmonious and just society.
