The employees working under the corporation like Manipur Housing Corporation lament they will not be getting pension after retirement from their respective service. Likewise fresh entrants to the Government jobs too will not be getting pension. They need not worry over the matter. Because the Government decision not to give pension to the new entrants of Government service is a good decision. Frankly speaking they do not deserve it. Pension should be for those who work sincerely and honestly. These employees wasted their time in office without doing anything. If others can survive without getting Government help why cannot they? When they are in Government service they have got double benefit. As they continue to draw pay they make themselves available for doing other lucrative business. Doctors attend private clinics to earn extra money despite getting non practising allowance. Teachers did other business like contract work and supplying of items to different Government departments. All these palatial buildings that are coming up fast in the heart of the town and elsewhere belong to Government employees. Unemployed persons cannot find the space for survival in Manipur. Therefore even the students, who would have otherwise pursued Ph. D in physics and chemistry, have appeared in the TET to become primary teachers. These days very few students have turned out to pursue M. Sc. in mathematics. They all had gone for taking up other subjects like bio and zoology. If a survey is carried out everything will become crystal clear. The survey will be able to know why these students are not going for serious subjects. There is not much scope for development of science in Manipur. But when the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohon Singh was asked by scribes some time back for telling a simple formula for speedy development of NE region as a whole and Manipur in particular he said tell the young children to pursue physics, chemistry and maths. That will bring development in the region. But on the contrary science is neglected here in Manipur. The recent speech made by Dr. Manmohon on the national science day also reflected the Union Government’s desire to focus on the development of science. A system needs to be evolved to see to it that highly educated students, who could have gone further doing research in the subjects of their choice, are debarred from appearing in the TET. These highly educated students will be a square into the round hole when they teach primary level students. Frankly speaking they will neglect their duty. Such brilliant students becoming primary level teachers will be wastage of Government money. The posts should be reserved for mediocre. Unfortunately it happens in Manipur these highly educated students attempt to keep everything under their domain. While teaching primary level students they will appear for college lecturers’ posts also. Being brilliant they will shine in the same selection test also. But what they do not know is that they had abrogated the rights of someone to become a primary teacher when he or she did not cross the age for becoming a Government teacher. Evolve a system to see to it that the right person gets the right job. Similarly an MA should be debarred from becoming a police constable. He will remain thinking when he is asked to act.

Mail News Service
Imphal, Jan 15: The 24 hour bandhcalled to protest against the bomb attack at the house of president of Hill Tribal council at Moreh ward no. 14 yesterday will be concluded tonight.
No untoward incident was reported during the bandh and Namphalong gate number 2 was blocked.
Meanwhile a joint meeting of all communities was held at Moreh and has taken five resolutions.
The resolutions included among other things to pressurize the concerned authority to punish the culprits, to prevail peace at Moreh and to provide additional securities at Moreh Town.
KSO General Headquarters condemned the bomb attack that took place at the residence of Hill Tribal Council’s (HTC) president Pu Jangmang Haokip, yesterday. Even though the attack may be inconspicuous, with no casualties nevertheless it is an unprecedented incident which could easily bring undesirable consequences it was added. The people of
Moreh are requested to not allow the situation be blown out of proportion, considering the resultant communal tension whenever this kind of situation occurred in this town.
It could be the handy work of miscreant intended to foment ill will among the denizen of the border town. It could also be a conspiracy to fuel communal tension it was added. But this sinister design must not be allowed to thrive. All the people must hold on to peace.
The government and the local authority should leave no stone unturned to nab the culprit so as to avoid civil unrest it is advisable that adequate security detail should be provide to
the HTC President for now. The police forces should beef up security and intelligence network in the town to maintain rule of law. The attacker must be hunt down promptly to get to the bottom of things; and also to get rid of the peoples’ skeptical perception about the capabilities of police forces.
The KSO also wants the assailants to spelt out the reasons for this attack on the HTC President and his family. Should this be about monetary demand or dispute, the people or the
party involved is advice to stop immediately as this injustice shall not be condoned at any cost. There should be no further attack on the HTC President and his family said Mangcha Baite, Vice President (Adm.)

IMPHAL, Jan 15 NNN: Manipur Government is mulling over a proposal for scaling up the amount of scholarship money and unemployment allowances given to the differently-abled people in the state and if approves, the revised amount will be given most likely from April this year.
Admitting that the current amount of scholarship money and unemployment allowances given to the differently-abled persons in the state are not acceptable considering their values, such nominal amount has created problems to them, official sources in Manipur Social Welfare Department disclosed on Tuesday.
Each Financial Year, the state Government earmarks certain amount of money and from that amount the Social Welfare Department gives scholarship and allowances to disabled every year. Presently, scholarships are provided to 95 differently-abled persons and unemployment allowances to another 387 educated disabled.
Rs 40-120 is given to Day Scholars in classes 1 to postgraduate while Rs 60-170 to hostellers. While, Rs 100-200 is given to unemployed disabled who are in matriculation to postgraduate.
A proposal for increasing the amount of these scholarship and allowances was submitted to the state Government by Social Welfare Department in November 2012 and now the Government is mulling over it, the sources said.
If the Government endorses the proposal, then the Day Scholars will get an increased amount of Rs 300-650 and Rs 350-700 for the hostellers and Rs 300-700 for the unemployed educated disabled.
The proposal also urges for raising the amount of stipend paid to the readers. Presently, they get Rs 30-100 per month, but they will get Rs 250-400 if the proposal for revision of scholarship, allowance and stipend amount is approved and implemented by the Government.
It is most likely that the revised amount will be given from April this year if the consent of the state Government to the proposal is given soon for its implementation.
There are around 22 thousand differently- abled persons in Manipur and 50 percent of them have been recognized by the state Social Welfare Department by issuing certificates.

Srinagar, Jan. 15 (ANI): Panches and sarpanches in the Kashmir Valley tendered mass resignation on Tuesday in wake of the recent militant attacks, saying they are being threatened to leave their houses and are scared for their lives.
The village heads from Sopore town in Baramulla district submitted their resignation, saying that they were scared and did not want to fall prey to all such attacks.
“I have come to resign because of the current threats from the militants. I do not want to fall a prey to all these increasing militant attacks,” said Firdous Ahmad Bhat, a village head.
Another village head echoing similar sentiments said that they do not want to work at the cost of their lives.
“We have assembled here to present our resignation because of the worsening situation. We are very much scared. We value our lives more, so we are extending our apology to the common people and to those who may have suffered because of us. We also extending our apology to the government and want to convey that we don’t want to work at the cost of our lives,” said Mushtaq Ahmad Ganiyaz, another village head from Sopore.
“Due to the prevailing situation we are unable to figure out who shot and what happened with Zoona Begum or the head from Gurpora or another head Habibullah Mir. One of them was critically injured and another died on the spot. So, we are appealing to the people as well as the government to accept our resignation and apology,” he added.
The attacks on village council members again gathered steam as unidentified gunmen shot and injured Zoona Begum, a member of the village council, in Hardeshiva village of Sopore on January 12.
This is the third such attack in two days, as two other village council heads have already been gunned down suspected militants. No group has yet taken responsibility of these attacks.
Over 700 village council members had quit, under threat from militants after militants shot dead a deputy village headman in Baramulla district in 2012.
