AIZAWL, Feb 11 NNN: As of every year, the popular festival in Mizoram, “Chapchar Kut” will be celebrated here again with grand fervor.
Chapchar Kut is celebrated by the Mizos with pomp and show after the clearance of forest for the jhumming.
Preparation for the celebration of the festival is in full swing in different parts of Mizoram.
The celebration of Chapchar Kut 2013 in the state capital, Aizawl will be held at AR Ground, where Mizoram Governor Vakkom Purusothaman will be the chief guest. Art & Culture Minister P.C. Zoram Sangliana will be the ‘KUT PA’, which means, ‘Father of the Festival’.
A meeting in finalizing the programme for Chapchar Kut 2013 was convened today under the leadership of Art & Culture Minister P.C. Zoram Sangliana, at his office chamber. The meeting was attended in good number by members of the programme committee.
In order to enable celebration of the festival with full public participation, several items have been selected, and a discussion about the ongoing preparation is held in the meeting.
Chapchar Kut is scheduled to be held for two days on February 28 and March 1 next. Besides in Aizawl, preogrammes are set to celebrate the Chapchar Kut with splendor and fanfare in all the district headquarters of the state and even in other smaller towns.
