Ranchi, July 9 (ANI): Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) legislature party leader Hemant Soren, who claims to have the support of 42 MLAs in the 82-member state assembly, is expected to formally stake claim to form the government today.
According to an official, Soren has been given an appointment with the Jharkhand Governor Syed Ahmed at 5.30 pm.
The latest development in this regard comes nine days before the six-month period of President’s rule ends in Jharkhand. The state was carved out of Bihar on November 15, 2000.
Marxist Coordination Committee MLA Arup Chatterjee, Jharkhand Janadhikar Manch MLA Bandhu Tirkey and three independent MLAs — Bidesh Singh, Chamra Linda and Harinarain Rai have already extended their support to the new JMM/Congress/RJD alliance.
Geeta Koda, another independent MLA and wife of former chief minister Madhu Koda, has also extended her support to the new alliance.
Jharkhand Party MLA Enos Ekka said his party has set a 15-point charter and his support to the alliance depends on a written assurance that the demands would be fulfilled by the future government.
If Ekka lends his support to the alliance then the Hemant Soren-led coalition will have the support of 44 MLAs in the 82-member House.
The President’s rule was imposed in Jharkhand on January 18 after the JMM pulled out from the BJP-led government.

IMPHAL, July 9: It’s been now two days the empty oil tankers have not gone for refill due to the ongoing bandh and economic blockade called by the Kuki State Demand Committee (KSDC) from 5 AM of July 8. After the arrival of the 38 oil tankers loaded with diesel and petrol at Imphal before the starting of the bandh, there has been no further movement of the tankers. The oil tankers are ready to go for the refill at Khatkhati, Tinsukia and Numaligarh in Assam if they are provided with adequate security escorts and road opening patrols (ROP) by security personnel.

IMPHAL, July 9: A press release from Kanglei Salai Apunba Lup has denounced the decision of the cabinet about the state government’s takeover of the palace compound for construction/development work and making the titular king move to another place while appealing to withdraw the decision with the histroy of 2000 years being studied.
Strongly opposing the government’s move to convert the palace compound to the historical museum under the hisotircal monument act, it affirmed that Kanglei Salai Apunba Lup is all set to more strongly join the agitations mounted by Sana Konung Kanba Lup in association with the general public to save the palace.
