Imphal, Aug 29 : The statement made by the spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Government of India Sayed Akbar –u- ddin that the Government of India had asked the Indian ambassador in Myanmar Goutam Mukhopadhya to raise the border fencing issue with Myanmar authority was hailed by the Committee on protection of land in border fencing (CPLBF) Manipur. Formation of Joint border working group as proposed by Government of India to demarcate border pillar number 76 is welcome.
The committee through a press release issued today observed that the Government of India took up the step after hearing the voice of the people of the state. There are several other pillars above 10 in number in the border areas, which need to be demarcated. Pillar number 76 is one among them, the committee also said.
The committee reiterated the demand for proper survey and demarcation of the Indo Myanmar boundary areas. That will strengthen ties between the two countries the committee added.
The committee said the media did not misquote the statement made by Principal Secretary Home Dr. Suresh Babu Home. Video recording and audio recording can be used as the proof of what he had stated in front of various dignitaries and also while talking to the media.
