IMPHAL, Sept 4 NNN: The United Naga Council (UNC) has announced to lift its ban on national projects in ‘Naga areas’ of Manipur from 5 am of September 4.
According to the Naga body, the government of India had requested the former in this regard during the talks on August 30 in New Delhi.
“The 6th tripartite talk of the Government of India, Government of Manipur and the Nagas in Manipur under the aegis of the United Naga Council (UNC) on the demand for an Alternative Arrangement outside the Government of Manipur, pending settlement of the Indo-Naga was held at Delhi on the 30th August, 2013. After an intense dialogue, a general agreement to take the process forward to political level within two months’ time was arrived in the talk. The Government of India also requested the UNC for lifting of ban on central project such as the Trans-Asian Railway line and Power Grid line in view of the firm and sincere intention of the GoI to end the stalemate on the demand of the UNC,” the UNC press communique said today.
According to the UNC, it held meeting today and discussed the above request of the government of India and resolved that the ban on the construction work on the Trans-Asian Railway line and Power Grid line would be lifted temporarily.
