IMPHAL, Nov 4: Manipur Governor Dr Ashwani Kumar has extended greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur especially to all the married ladies on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
In his message, the Governor said Ningol Chakkouba, a unique festival of the Meiteis, observed on the second day of the new moon of Hiyangei of the Meitei calendar, strengthens family relationship and bond of love and affection between brothers and married sisters.
Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh also conveyed his warm greetings and good wishes to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba festival which falls on November 5.
A message of CM said Ningol Chakkouba is one of the grandest festivals of Manipur which celebrates the unbreakable bond of love between brothers and sisters and which reinforces the care and affection of the parents for their daughters binding and reviving family relations.
“The significance of the festival is such that, though originally observed amongst the Meitei community, the festival has now extended to other communities and tribes in Manipur thereby reinforcing unity amidst diversity in the state,” the CM stated in the message.
