IMPHAL, November 29: Altogether twenty eight students of Thoubal College are likely to be debarred from appearing at the BA/BSc examination which will start from December 4, 2013 as the college management failed to forward their examination forms.
In connection with the matter, the students’ union of the college today organized a press conference at the office of AMSU Thoubal district branch located at Thoubal Okram where the student leaders demanded that the college authorities find a solution in the interest of the students.
Narrating the event leading to the present imbroglio, Bidyarani Wahengbam, a victim student said that necessary form fill up for the BA/BSc examination were done two months ago, and forms for twenty eight students including herself along with necessary amount of Rs 1800 each to L Somorjit Singh, a lab assistant of Chemistry department on the condition that he would do the necessary official work.
She further told that the students came to know that Somorjit had not submit the forms to university only when their admit cards were not sent by Manipur University.
The students put up the matter through the students union of the college for the knowledge of Principal. However, to the dismay of the student, the Principal informed that he did not know Somorjit and further added that the students may lose one year academic calendar.
The students then asked the Principal that on what basis Somorjit is working in the college if the Principal did not recognize a staff of the Chemistry department.
Later on, the Principal made an order in this regard which mentioned that the said Somorjit was prohibited from entering the college. And at the same time, the college remained closed for two days in connection with annual gathering.
