IMPHAL, December 6: Parliamentary Secretary of Tourism, M Prithiviraj today distributed awards to the winners of the photo and essay competitions conducted by the department in connection with the Manipur Sangai Festival, 2013, in his office chamber.

The competition was categorised under three themes which included “Nature Including Landscape of Manipur”, “Significant Tourist Spots/Destinations of Manipur” and “People Including Festivals”.

In the first category RK Bullu Singh of Poknapham bagged the first prize with a cash incentive of Rs 25,000 and a citation. L Santoshkumar Singh of Wangkhei bagged the second prize and Rs 10,000 and a citation while M Subash Singh of Langjing Achouba and A Jayananda Singh Wangkhei Khunou, jointly bagged the third prize and walked away with Rs 25,000 and citation each.

The cash amount was similar for the remaining two categories.

In the second category, significant tourist spots/destination of Manipur, L Vusan Singh of Wankhei Yonglan Leirak bagged the first prize, while M Bishwajit Singh of Moirang Bazaar and M Ranjit Singh of Keishampat Top Leirak, bagged the second the third places respectively.

N Basant Singh of Samaram Bamol Leikai, bagged the first prize in the category “People Including Festivals” and Binod Angom of Soibam Leikai Wangkhei Khunou bagged the second prize while Ronel Seram and Bachaspatimyayum Bisheswar Sharma of Aribam Leikai jointly got the third prize.

Meanwhile, H Dileshwar Singh, lecturer of Advance Intermediate College, Moirang walked away with the first prize in the essay competition on the theme “Tourism can be game changer in the economy of Manipur”. He received a cash prize of Rs 6,000 and citation.

The second prize was bagged by W Hennary Chanu, a class VIII of KM Blooming Higher Secondary School, Khangabok, having Rs 4,000 in cash and a citation.
