IMPHAL, December 10: The Kangleipak Communist Party will launch a movement against drug trafficking, said press release from KCP signed by its publicity secretary Sanakhomba Meitei.

Terming the drug traffickers as worst than HIV virus, the press release said that the party will take up action against the said drug traffickers of the state under Operation Just Cause (OJC).

In this connection, the party has arrested Suresh Prasad who is operating in the state under a disguise name Sean Demonte, son of Harold Leslie Demonte, it said in the release.

Desmonte has accepted guilty of his crime and said that he will never indulge in such business in the future, it said adding that he was later released considering his identity of being a non Manipuri.

It is also mentioned in the press release that the party will take action to those wealthy persons who are engaging in a dirty business of motivating people to invest money in network and various insurance policies, saying that such kind of business is nothing but an open snatching of public money.

IMPHAL, December 10: A BJP Nungba Mandal Committee office has been inaugurated by the village chairman, Meidon Gangmei at Noney Bazar at 8 am. The chief guest of the function was Prof Gangmumei Kamei who is the vice president of BJP scheduled tribe morcha, the president of the function was BJP mandal president of Tamenglong, Simon Panmei.

The occasion was attended by party workers of BJP.

IMPHAL, Dec 10: One day festival of Manipuri Manoharsai will be held on December 13, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Ramji Prabhu Mandap, Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal Imphal.

According to a press release, it is said that the festival is being organised by Manipuri Manoharsai Ashram under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture, government of India.

IMPHAL, December 10: An observation starting from November 28 as part of the International Fortnight Protesting Violence against Women which started from November 25 to December 10 concluded yesterday at Chandel district.

The observation was organized by All Tribal Women Organisation in collaboration with several others organisations of Chandel area under the theme “From peace in the home to peace in the world and let’s challenge militarisation and end violence against women.”

On the concluding day of the observation a large group of womenfolk also held a poster campaign in the villages along the NH 2 from Pallel to Moreh.

IMPHAL, December 10: The Relief & Disaster Management Dept., Govt. of Manipur under National Disaster Management Authority, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, together with the District Administration Thoubal have organized a three-day “Conduct of Capacity Development Program for Mock Drill on Earthquake” (9 to 11 December 2013) at the Counting Hall inside the Thoubal DC Complex.

As part of the ongoing program, a Mock Drill Demonstration Show will be conducted at five different places on the last day which are Mini Secretariat Thoubal, Wangjing Bazar, Thoubal Keithel, District Hospital Thoubal and Sofia English School, Thoubal.

At the Demonstration which will commence at 10 in the morning, personnel from National Disaster Management Force (NDMF) along with volunteers from NYK, NSS and NCC will provide valuable information and practical demonstrations on ways to prevent loss of life and properties.

Representatives from the District administration of Thoubal, Chandel, churachandpur and Tamenglong along with police personnel who are taking part in the Capacity Development Program will also participate in the demonstration. A press release from the office of the DC Thoubal urged the public to witness the demonstration and benefit from the practical aspects being demonstrated.

IMPHAL, Dec 10: Senior advocate L Shyamkishwor Singh was today co-opted as president of the High Court Bar Association, Manipur as the said post has been lying vacant since the sudden demise of NKH, senior advocate, said a press release from the High Court Bar Association.

The selection was decided in an executive meeting.
