IMPHAL, December 15: The Chingkham Baptist Church affiliated to the Rongmei Naga Baptist Association (RNBA) today celebrated its silver jubilee at Chingkham Kabui village in Thoubal district.

The celebration was attended by deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam as the chief guest alongside his better half Adiliu Gangmei.

Many church leaders, village elders and other dignitaries including Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal Ranjit, SDO Lilong among others also attended the function.

Speaking during the occasion Gaikhangam, announced that four new police outposts will soon be established within Thoubal district in order to help in the maintaining law and order considering the vastness of constituency segment.

He said that the decision was taken during a high level meeting attended by chief minister and other top officials of the Home department.

The deputy Chief Minister further informed that of the four proposed outposts, locations for two have been identified at Chingkham Kabui Village and Imphal barrage. However, the location for the remaining posts is yet to be ascertained, he added.

He however hinted that the two other outposts might come up between Sora and Kakching Lamkhai and Waithou Bazaar.

Gaikhangam further informed that an understanding has been brought about with JAC formed against the failure of the Government to develop Old Cachar road. The agreement was brought today in a meeting held at his official residence this morning, he said.

It may be recalled that the particular JAC has been on agitation since the last few days in protest against the failure of the Government to construct the Old Cachar road.

Meanwhile, Giakhangam clarified that the work falls in the jurisdiction of the works department of the state adding that a tender has been floated. But, unfortunately none of the bidder could qualify with the criteria laid down by the department.

Another round of e-tender is soon to be launch and assured to starts the works latest by March, he said.

The celebration was marked by presentation of gifts to daughters of Chingkham married outside the village, offering of mass prayer, presentation of gospel numbers by youths etc.
