JIRIBAM, December 20: A driver of an FCI truck ferrying food grains into the state capital from Jiribam has been kidnapped while another has been looted of his mobile and money along the National Highway 37, informed a reliable source.
Suspected Kuki militants waylaid the two trucks coming in close proximity towards Imphal from Jiribam during the wee hours this morning and kidnapped the driver of one while, leaving behind the other driver after robbing him of his belongings, informed the source.
The incident occurred in between Lhalnom Kuki Village and Old Keiphundai in Tousem of Tamenglong district along the national highway, the source informed.
The kidnapped driver has been identified as Chanambam Janeshore, 55 son of Ch Ibohal of Keinou Thongthak Leikai of Bishnupur and was driving Tata truck bearing regd no MN 01 7592, while the other driver has been identified as Ahongsabam Divison of the same locality as the kidnapped driver.
Divison was driving truck bearing regd no AS 01 EC 4968, when the incident happened.
