IMPHAL, Mar 24: Imphal East District police commandos conducted a cordon and search operation at Hatta Yairipok Leikai this morning from 5am to 7am.

14 individuals who failed to produce proper identification were detained and later handed over to the Promopat Police Station for further verification.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of additional SP (ops) Singhajit and led by OC P Achouba.

IMPHAL, March 24: The Directorate of Information and Public Relation issued a press release informing about the setting up of a media centre at Senapati in relation with the coming Lok Sabha election which will be conducted next month.

The district information officer, Senapati will be in charge of the media centre which will work together with his staff members and related information will be notified to the public.

IMPHAL, Mar 24: The Yaingangpokpi Area Ukhrul District Villages Co-operation COmmittee, YAUDVCC has banned the COngress party alleging pathetic attitude on alteration of the name of Yaingangpokpi to Riha police station, as the location of the station is within the jurisdiction of the later, said a press statement.

IMPHAL, March 24: The Seventh Help and Development Organisation (HADO) Crafts Bazaar which will continue till April  2nd was inaugurated on Monday at Yaipha Lamjing Lup Club Ground, Pishumthong Ningom Leirak.

At the seventh HADO craft bazaar, various handicrafts and handloom items were displayed and all together 150 stalls were there.

Speaking at the inaugural function as chief guest, Former Director General of Police Yumnam Joykumar said that the members who are involved in such activities face many problems in bringing their items and selling it.

Many organisation help in the development and their production but the setting up of bogus self-help-groups in the state obstructed in getting help from various sectors for the development, he asserted.

He further said that handicrafts and handloom production is mostly taken up by girls but after marriage they stop doing such works.

Meanwhile, he opined that there is a need to construct a permanent place especially to organise such functions.

IMPHAL, Mar 24: The Manipur State Kala Akademi, Imphal is organising X Manipur STate Art Exposition, 2013 under the aegis of the Lalit Kala Akademi, new Delhi at the Manipur State Art Gallery, Department of Art& Culture, Palace Compound.

The Manipur State Art Exposition Award, 2013 will also be distributed during the occassion, informed a press statement.
