IMPHAL April 15: Locals of Leimaram, Heinoubok and Waroi ching under Oinam Assembly constituency have today resolved to stay away from the upcoming Lok Shaba election during a meeting.
The meeting was attended by the village chief and elders.
Gayatri Devi convenor of the JAC formed in connection with the life attempt on Ningthoujam Tomba of Leimaram Mamang Leikai said that the decision was taken after the government failed to give any positive response regarding the memorandum they have submitted to the deputy chief minister on 11 April regarding the life attempt.
She further said that the JAC has given five days-time to the state government to file a charge sheet against the accused Ningthoujam Biren, 56, son of (L) Tomaljao of Leimaram Awang Leikai who attack the victim Ningthoujam Ibetombi wife of Tomba with a double barrel gun on the night of March 7 at around 8.30 pm.
The memorandum had also demanded the transfer of Nambol police officer in charge who had abused and use slang words against the JAC members, she said.
