IMPHAL, April 29: The Manipur University Student’s Union Revival Demand Committee has submitted a memorandum to President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday during his visit to the state for Manipur Univeristy’s 14th convocation.
The memorandum signed by convenor of MUSUDRC Thokchom Suresh has four charters of demands. Apart from demanding the revival of the student’s body of the University which was abruptly abolished during the academic session of 2008-9, the demand committee also urged for the filling up of the vacant statutory posts of the university such as Pro-Vice Chancellor, Finance Officer , Controller of Examinations, Director Academic staff college, Director CDC, Medical officer etc. The other demands of the student’s body are: the establishment of a mechanism for students to give regular feedbacks, something which they are entitled to, to maintain a high standard and quality education in the state; and framing a proper research policy for the students undergoing researches in the varsity because irregularities in notification of Ph D admissions has hampered the career of students who can’t afford to go for higher studies outside the state.
