IMPHAL, August 13: The State government cannot take any hasty decision, but there is no doubt that it is seriously considering implementation of the Inner Line Permit System in Manipur, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh told the media today.
The Chief Minister interacted briefly with the media persons after paying floral tribute at Heecham Yaichampat.
He said the State government is not the competent authority to authorise implementation of the ILPS in the State, nevertheless, it is the main agenda of the government at the moment.
The State needs to consult the Centre on the pros and cons of implementing the ILPS, he said before adding that the government is at the same time pressuring the Centre for its implementation.
He said the issue cannot be lightly taken and the government has already convened an all-political party meeting on the issue.
A committee has been formed with legal experts from the Bar association and the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System to look into the sensitive issue, the Chief Minister asserted.
Although it is taking time, the public should go hand in hand with the government to bring an amicable solution to the issue, Chief Minister Ibobi continued.
