IMPHAL, September 19: A team of Bishnupur district Police rescued a labourer and arrested three kidnappers today.
A statement issued by the PRO Manipur Police, S Gautam Singh, said that the rescued victim has been identified as Md Nasir Khan, 40, son of Md Kamar-uddin Tera Khongsangbi, engaged in building construction of Borayangbi Primary School. The three kidnappers have been identified as Bungneithang Kom alias Athang, 28, son of Chongthang Kom of Pungshanglen Village, Churachandpur, Thangpao Haokip alias Apao, 39, son of Jamkho Haokip of Sukon Village, Chandel and Jonah Vaiphei, 28, son of Seimang Vaiphei of Pelhang Village, Nagaland at present Sukon Village.
It said that following the kidnap of Nasir on September 18, the same day a case was lodged with the concerned police station under FIR No. 12(9)2014 KUB-PS u/s 365/384/400/34 IPC&25 (I-C).
Subsequently, as a follow up action the Bishnupur police rescued the kidnapped victim from Sugnu area this morning with the help of 22 AR, Sugnu police and local people, it asserted.
Our Bishnupur Correspondent adds: Three youths came on diesel auto asking for the contractor and Mohari engaged in construction work of Borayangbi Primary School.
On failing to find the contractor or the Mohari, Nasir was taken away by the miscreants on the pretext of having a talk with him.
A combined team Bishnupur police and commandos carried out a massive rescue operation soon after the incident came to light. The rescue operation was conducted under the supervision of Kh Vikramjit additional SP (L&O).
