CHANDEL, October 6: Several civil organizations of the Chandel district have joined in the demand for staying the transfer of Chandel DC Robert Singh Kshetrimayum today.
Chandel Naga People`™s Organisation president Ws Karnal Anal while briefing media persons in this regard said the government policy of transferring DC Robert is not acceptable for the people of the district.
He said the DC is highly appreciated and liked by the public for his vision and commitment in bringing better education and health care services to the district.
During his short stay here, he has toured even the remotest part of the district to witness the struggle of the people and inspect the lack of education, health care and other facilities in these places, he said.
Rejecting the sudden transfer of the DC, which he termed as unacceptable to the people, he said the people is appealing to the government to respect the voice of the people and defer the transfer in the interest of the people of the district.
In the meantime, the All Tribal Chiefs and Public Grievances Forum, Chandel District has also rejected the sudden transfer of the DC and said it must be deferred at the earliest.
Forum president Sng Lumdil said the frequent transfer of DCs only hamper development in the district.
He said the forum is not against the new DC to be posted in the district, but it views the government`™s decision for frequent change of DCs as wrong and inconsiderate of the plights of the people.
He appealed to the government to defer the transfer of the DC who has already built a close affinity with the people of the district and to give him some time to work for the people.
Moreh Correspondent adds: Community leaders of the Hill Tribal Council, Moreh, Tamil Sangam Moreh, Meetei Council Moreh, Girkha Samaj Samiti Moreh and the Manipuri Muslim Council Moreh along with leaders of the Punjabi community jointly convened a meeting at the office of the HTC, Moreh and condemned the transfer order of Chandel DC Robert Singh Kshetrimayum as the ADC, Moreh.
The leaders acknowledged that Robert Singh during his short time as the DC in charge of Chandel had completed many projects which were pending since long which shows that he is not just a young and dynamic official but someone without any bias feelings.
The leaders further said they had submitted several memorandums to the government to post Robert as the DC of Chandel.
