IMPHAL, December 30: The State witnessed a rapid rise in the number ofincidents of Violence Against Women and Children during 2014 which possibly could be one of the worst years for the State, Communist Party of India State secretary Dr Moirangthem Nara lamented.

He said throughout the year, many an innocent were killed in the name of counter insurgency conducted by the State and Central forces.

The people, as such, have lost their confidence in the ruling government, he said.

At the same time, the change of govrnment at the Centre has also resulted in a high inflation rate during the last half year, Nara lamented.

Nara was speaking to media persons at his party office today.

He further voiced his concern over the election process in the country and expressed hopes of seeing a political evolution and introduction of the Proportionate Electoral System in the country.

He said development of individuals cannot be considered development of the State unless the whole society is developed.

The CPI leader also expressed hopes that the New Year 2015 will be better than 2014.

He also expressed hopes to see development, peace and unity in the New Year and said socialism is the only way to bring peace and development in the State.
