IMPHAL, March 28: To make a better future society, a proper understanding of the past and present is essential, said Gaikhangam.
This was said during the releasing function of a book title as `Kabui Rongmei Costumes, Attires & Musical Instruments` in Kabui dialects and a film `Yelling of Zeliangrong` was released today at Kabui Community Hall.
The Deputy Chief Minster Gkhangam further said that custom, culture, tradition, literature and art are important and must be preserved, for they can leave a clear vision of the past for the future generation. With this knowledge, they can then mould their society to be better, he said lauding the writer and film maker of producing such film for the benefit of all, especially the youth.
`Books inform the public and cinema transforms the society,` he said and added that in spite of having chosen different religions, the community should not neglect its own culture.
Author and director of the documentary film, Pou Star Kamei said that the objective of producing the film is to preserve the originality of Kabui community. If not for such efforts, the beauty and originality of Kabui culture will become precarious, he added.
Similarly the book Kabui Rongmei Costumes, Attires & Musical Instruments is to for the reference of younger generations of Zeliangrong, he said. This is will render immense benefit to the younger generations of Zeliangrong he said, adding the mission is still not complete as the book will now be written and translated in the Roman script as well as Manipuri.
Ex-chairperson IMC, Gangmei Moirangjao, Village Chief, Keisamthong and Pou Lungpuiga Remmei were guests of honour and president of the function.
