IMPHAL, April 4: The All Manipur Students Union, in a release expressed its apprehension that the proposed Manipur University appointments of several posts of Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and Principal B.Ed, etc, will be done fraudulently.
It said it is doubtful if candidates from poor background, who have no money to pay or strings to pull, despite their M.Phil, Ph.D, JRF and NET degrees will be sidelined in preference of more resourceful candidates.
The release warned against any underhand dealings by the MU authorities on the matter, saying it will not remain a silent spectator if it comes to learn of any fraudulence in the selection process. All untoward incidents that result out of its possible foul plays will have to be borne by the MU authorities, it said.
The AMSU release also reminded the MU authorities that the current crisis in the MU over the selection test of Ph.D candidates in various departments, is on account of the MU authorities failing to make the rules and regulations known to the candidates.
It said the students body will not allow candidates who have already qualified by their merit to be nullified on the pretext of transgression of norms during the conduct of the tests.
The AMSU flayed the MU authorities for making matter slip on account of their nepotism and disregard of norms. It further appealed to the MU authorities to make sure that rules are observed and selection tests to the said posts are held free and fair.
