IMPHAL, May 30: Noting that hard work is the only way for students to excel in education and secure their future, MLA of Khangabok Constituency O Landhoni asserted that recognition and felicitation of meritorious students is also necessary to boost their confidence and ability which in turn will contribute towards the society.
The MLA was speaking during a prize distribution function for meritorious students organized by Nahakpam Brojendro Trust, Lamding, Thoubal district and Board of Governors of Progressive English School, Lamding at the premises of the school today.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, MLA Landhoni exhorted the students to put in earnest efforts in studies and have clarity in their aims in life as these will help in achieving the correct destinations of life.
Conceding that education sector in the state has been developed considerably which is a good sign, she underlined the need for having good foundation of education of students as this will secure their future.
Every parent wants their children to excel in education and become responsible citizens. It is the duty of students to fulfil dreams of their parents and contribute towards development of the society, the MLA maintained.
She stated that students should always regard their parents and not waste time indulging in bad company and drug abuse.
The MLA went on to say that there is also a need for students to get involved in sports and extra-curricular activities to enhance their mental and physical strength apart from studies.
During the function, three students of who secured highest marks in Meetei Mayek subject for Thoubal district in the matriculation examination and another three students who clinched highest marks in overall subjects for Wangjing centre were felicitated by presenting them with gifts and rewards.
Today`™s prize distribution function was also attended by Chairperson of Wangjing-Tentha Municipal Council H Chaoba Devi as president; Councillor of Ward no 2, Wangjing-Tentha Municipal Council Sh Shanti Devi and Councillor of ward no 3 M Rashini as guests of honour.
