ASSAM RIFLES ENCOURAGES SELF EMPLOYMENT IN KHENGJOI BLOCK
“GOAT FARM”
Committed to promote self employment through vocational skill development in the Khengjoi block, 6 DOGRA of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) is constructing a “Goat Farm” at Village L Bongjoi in Chandel district. The construction work is in full swing which includes three goat sheds, boundary fencing and associated infrastructure. 56 goats have been procured so far for initial training of the core team and further procurement is in progress. Necessary liaison with State Vetinary and Animal Husbandry department has been carried out for vaccination of animals and training of the villagers. The noble endeavour of Assam Rifles will equip villagers with skills to run Goat farm and generate alternate source of income as goat meat is in huge demand by the Assam Rifles Battalion deployed in the area. Once completed the project will go a long way in empowering villagers and providing an alternate source of income. The village authorities have highly appreciating the efforts of the Army which is committed in bringing development to one of the remotest region of Manipur thus strengthening the bond of friendship and trust between the local populace of the region and the security forces.
ASSAM RIFLES ORGANISED ZERO GARBAGE DRIVE AT KHUDENGTHABI
24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised the Zero Garbage Drive at Khudengthabi village in Chandel district on 10 Jul 2015. The programme was attended by 37 local civilians including women, children and youth of the village. The villagers were educated about the littering issues & its harmful effects to the society and advised to maintain the village garbage free by use of dust bins/ garbage bins and waste dumping areas. The villagers alongwith troops of Assam Rifles maintained the dumping areas of waste products. The village auth i.e. village Chief, Secretary and Chairman appreciated the initiative of the Assam Rifles for the same. The function culminated with Assam Rifles & Villagers interaction followed by tea & snacks.
