IMPHAL, August 1: After more than 20 days of imposing a temporary closure of all education institutions including higher secondary schools, high schools, junior/upper primary, primary schools located in the Greater Imphal area, the State government has ordered the re-opening of the educational institutes from August 3.
The decision to order re-opening of the educational institutes was taken during a cabinet meeting thie evening which was chaired by the Chief Minister and convened at his Secretariate.
Following the decision of the cabinet, the Secretariat: Higher and Technical Education deputy secretary Y Dimbajit Singh and secretary Education (S) Md Abdus Salam issued separate orders regarding re-opening of the schools/ colleges from August 3.
Meanwhile, the Education minister has also appealed to the schools and colleges to conduct extra classes so as to ensure that the school syllabuses are fully covered.
The minister said Sapam Robinhood`™s death during a movement demanding implementation of the Inner Line Permit System is really unfortunate.
He said the educational institutes were closed down to ensure safety of the students in the follow up agitations as part of the movement.
He further appealed to the parents, guardians, school/ college authorities, student organisations and civil society organisations to support the decision of the government.
The minister also appealed to the people to make education a disturbance free zone.
Appreciating the PIL filed by student body DESAM regarding the closing down of the educational institutes, Okendro appealed to all to create a conducive atmosphere for the schools to re-open without any disturbances.
