LAMKA, September 24: In a new development in the form of agitation and protest in Churachandpur today, womenfolk who had been on daily dharnas were replaced by their husbands but without the involvement of any youth so as to avoid any unwanted incident.

The men took charge of the dharna stations particularly in the town areas from around 1pm.

It urged the people to pray so that the president Pranab Mukherjee may not sign the three anti bills.

In another development, a team of ZoRO from Mizoram visited Churachandpur today to show their solidarity to the tribals of Manipur who are fighting for separate administration. The team visited and paid their respect to the nine killed during the recent violence in the district.

MUDRA scheme beneficiaries handed loan sanction letters

IMPHAL, September 25: The lead bank for Imphal West district today distributed MUDRA Loan sanction letters to 25 beneficiaries through different banks during a loan campaign meeting at Hotel Imphal.

IMPHAL, September 25: The lead bank for Imphal West district today distributed MUDRA Loan sanction letters to 25 beneficiaries through different banks during a loan campaign meeting at Hotel Imphal.

The campaign was organised to launch the MUDRA SISHU loan facility today.

The Micro Unit Development and Refinancing Agency (MUDRA) loan scheme was first launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 8.

The scheme will provide opportunity to many by providing loans to micro units based on the stage of growth under three categories – Shishu (loans up to Rs 50,000/-), Kishore (loans up to Rs 5,00,000/-) and Tarun (loans up to Rs 10,00,000/-).

It was conceptualized with an aim to make available hassle free financial assistance to the beneficiaries engaged in micro economic activities in non-farm sector like Non`“Corporate Small Business Segment (NCSBS) comprising of millions of proprietorship or partnership firms running as small manufacturing units, service sector units, shopkeepers, fruits or vegetable vendors, truck operators, food-service units, repair shops, machine operators, small industries, artisans, food processors and others, in rural and urban areas.

Majority of such units do not have access to institutional finance.

Hence providing them with institutional finance to such micro units would turn them into catalyst for growth of GDP and employment generation, which in turn will improve quality of life of these entrepreneurs and contribute substantially for job creation, stated BJP Manipur in-charge and Member of Parliament Prahlad Singh Patel who attended the function as the chief guest.

The union government conceived the idea of establishing MUDRA loan to provide an opportunity for people and such scheme should not be termed as BJP created scheme. The loan facilities are for everyone irrespective of their religion, caste or creed, he added.

Manipur Rural Bank chairman Prasanna Kumar Bal stated that the newly launched scheme will provide lots of opportunities to the people as it is very different from other loans provided by the banks.

United Bank of India, Imphal Branch AGM PK Das appealed to all borrowers to be responsible enough to repay the borrowed money in time and further avail other loans in future to promote the scheme.

SBI RBO, Imphal AGM Lunkim Thangboi emphasized on the herculean task every bank has right now to meet the target set by the government.

He also urged the banks to be very careful while selecting beneficiaries and urged borrowers to inculcate the habit of repaying the loans.

Banks here in our State face another form of challenge as a number of branches located in remote parts are cut off by frequent landslide and other reasons, he said.

To popularize the scheme and to speed up disbursement of MUDRA loans, Department of Financial Services, Union Ministry of Finance, Government of India had advised heads of all commercial banks and RRBs to launch weeklong campaign from September 25 to October 2 for disbursing loans under MUDRA.

The campaign is set to continue further in Imphal East, Bishnupur and Pallel.

ADC CCpur team returns from Delhi, reports of meetings with central leaders, Muivah

LAMKA, September 25: The team of Autonomous District Council Churachandpur members led by their chairman Lamgkhanpau Guite returned from the national capital yesterday and made a report of their meetings

LAMKA, September 25: The team of Autonomous District Council Churachandpur members led by their chairman Lamgkhanpau Guite returned from the national capital yesterday and made a report of their meetings with several central leaders including President Pranab Mukherjee during their stay there.

The team had met the central leaders and spoke on the protest of the tribals of Manipur due to the passing of the three bills in the State Assembly on August 31.

The ADC team had also met MPs like PA Sangma, Neiphiu Rio and general secretary of NSCN (IM) Th Muivah.

According to Guite, `The leaders we met were all ears to our grievances and promised to monitor and take necessary steps to check our grievances.` He told womenfolk staging dharnas that with co-operation of the Manipur Tribal Forum, the team had conducted a protest in front of the Manipur Bhawan in Delhi where Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh was also present.

`We are and will always be ready to be in the service of the people through the JAC which was set up for this purpose,` he said.

He further urged the JAC to continue its good work and act in such a manner that the rare tribal unity remains the main focus which is the high point of the present protest which even the central leaders had appreciated.

It was also learnt during the meeting with the MP from Nagaland, that the State government had stopped the observers from centre from visiting Churachandpur and asked him to go back without visiting the district, he said.

On the other hand, protestors had stopped a doctor who was going to his duty at the district hospital`™s casualty department and had to be helped by this correspondent to reach the hospital.

IMPHAL September 25: The Sainik School Imphal Alumni Association (SSIAA) organized a one day free medical camp in association with Fortis Hospital, Vashant Kunj, Delhi at Eastern Blooming Flower School, Ukhongshang in Yairipok today.

The one day free medical camp was assisted by the Youth Development Committee, Heirok A/C in arranging all the logistic and supportive requirements.

More than a thousand local residents availed the free consultancy and free medicine during the camp today.

National Mobile Medical Unit under NRHM also assisted the group by providing free ultrasound service. Unfortunately owing to the absenteeism of both the technician for X ray and Lab test, those facilities could not be availed from the National Mobile Medical Unit.

Six specialists from Fortis Hospital, Delhi along with several others from the State conducted the free health camp today for the flood affected population of the area.

Among them were Dr Aman Gupta, Urology; Dr Sanjeev Gulati, director Nephrology; Dr Deepak Vohra, dermatology; Dr Dhananjay Gupta, orthopaedics; Dr Ripen Gupta, asst director cardiology; Lt. Col. Dr Ashlesh Jain, internal medicine from Fortis Hospital, Vashant Kunj, Delhi.

Local doctors in the team were Dr S Saratchandra, dental surgeon, District Hospital Thoubal; Dr Th Motilal, general medicine, CRPF; Dr H Robi, MO in charge general medicine, PHC Mayang Imphal; Dr K K Singh, CMO, Loktak Project; Dr Jotin, general medicine and Dr Pritam Chirom, gynaecology RIMS.

The people from the surrounding villages thronged the school premises to avail the services of the specialized doctors. Men and women, old and young including infants came to the camp with their health complaints.

The desperation among the people also clearly indicates the lack of access to quality government medical facilities in the vicinity despite all the health based campaigns of the State government.

`We do come across the usual Skin TB, Fungal infections, Hands and feet Eczema and Scabies which could be prevented and reduced with proper counselling and health education. Owing to the time constrain and the number of patients, we were not able to do this extensively today,` Dr Deepak Vohra remarked.

Convener of the event, IPS officer Radhe Shyam said `Considering the post flood health condition of this populace, we had chosen this centre so that all the neighbouring villages can also avail the free quality health care.`

BJP formally announces entry of Joy, RB, Joykumar and Dorendro into party fold

IMPHAL, September 25: BJP Manipur in-charge and MP Prahlad Singh Patel today announced the party`™s approval of former State Chief Ministers RK Dorendro and RB Koijam along with former minister

IMPHAL, September 25: BJP Manipur in-charge and MP Prahlad Singh Patel today announced the party`™s approval of former State Chief Ministers RK Dorendro and RB Koijam along with former minister Okram Joy and retd Manipur DGP Yumnam Joykumar joining the party.

The MP also announced that the party has revoked suspension against all the nine BJP State leaders.

Speaking at a welcoming cum felicitation function of Okram Joy and Yumnam Joykumar at Kakwa Naorem Lairembi community hall , Prahlad said today is an important day as it is the birth anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay and on such a day the party is officially welcoming two high profile personalities Y Joykumar and seasoned politician O Joy into the party fold.

He said with the launch of the national enrolment drive of the party starting last year, everyone is allowed to join the party.

He said only the NDA government has shown real concern for the poor people of the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched several schemes for the benefit of the people and sanctioned several development packages for Manipur including Rs 500 crore for cleaning of Loktak Lake, the largest fresh water lake in North East India, he said.

However, the corrupt State government seems to have pocketed the amount, he alleged.

There is a need to free the country of corruption, he said.

Prahlad also said that the Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency Bank (or MUDRA Bank) will be launched in Manipur today.

The launch will be held at the Hotel Imphal, he added.

This will help the poor set up small scale businesses, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, O Joy said through his long political career of 40 years, he had remained stuck with only one political party which was the MPP.

He said but now it is time to bring a change in Manipur and the only alternative to the Congress is the BJP.

The decision to join BJP was taken following advice from several workers and friends, he said.

He continued he appreciates Narendra Modi`™s ideology and the fact that Modi bowed and touch the steps of the Parliament by his forehead before entering it.

Joy said he considers the Parliament or the State Assemblies as the holy temples of democracy and the Prime Minister seems to consider himself as a servant of the people and not just the Prime Minister.

He also said that BJP`™s belief that India cannot be considered a developed country until the NE region is developed is also similiar with the MPP`™s ideology of regionalism. He said from today he has joined the BJP.
