CHAKPIKARONG, October 4: Considering public ignorance on the spread of Hepatitis B and C and its costly medication, a free hepatitis B & C screening camp was conducted at Chakpikarong Bazar today.
The camp was organized by the Anal Students Union, Chakpikarong branch and assisted by social activists including Sp Kolomi, Ws. Benjamen, Rl. Khihari and Rd Shangmory.
The diagnosis was conducted by Dr. N. Biplab Singh and free medicine was also provided by Biocon & Virology.
While talking to newsman in the sideline of the camp, Dr Biplab Singh confirmed detection of +ve signs of hepatitis B & C in some of the patients and called for creating an awareness programme in the area and to contact medical companies for subsidized rate for mass vaccination in order to control the spread of the disease.
Meanwhile, the ALT extended its gratitude to Shaktiman Owners`™ Association Chakpiakrong for renovation and repairing of a bridge constructed across Ratulok (Ratu stream) at Anal khunou junction in Chakpikarong.
The statement in this regard thanked Hl Thungam, Nl Ngamshel and Sng Angthung for the initiative to execute and complete the work free of cost.
It also thank United Pentecostal church north east India from Mizoram for extending monetary help to flood affected families of Chakpikarong.
