IMPHAL, November 7: Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, has urged the people not to vote for candidates with no principles and consider election as a business, continuing the war of words in the run up to the bye election scheduled to be held on November 21.
The Chief Minister was delivering his speech as a chief guest during a one day political conference held at Khongman Zone-3 community hall organise by Khongman Development Committee.
Okram Ibobi further taking a jibe on rival party said that the Trinamool Congress is a party that doesn’t follow any principle and consider politics as business.
He further said that the public must have consciences while electing their representative that the Congress has delivered its promises for the development of every assembly constituencies, adding that he assured in the future too, the Congress will work for the up-liftmen and development of the people.
The Chief Minister claimed that the public must have realised how BJP fooled the people by giving only lip service and false hope of development when the reality was completely reverse. There is communal strife and uncertainty wherever there is the rule of BJP, added the Chief Minister.
He further claimed that since the BJP lead NDA came to power at the centre, many schemes which were once part of the flagship programme of the Congress government are either scrapped or given new names to use it in their (BJP) favour.
Pointing out that Manipur have made it presence felt in the recent past like securing first position in health sector for low infant mortality rate, Chief Minister O Ibobi illuminated that there are many things to be done. However, to do so the need of the hour is the supports of the people, continued Ibobi.
The candidate of Thongju AC, Bijoy Koijam highlighted the works done by him in his assembly constituency during his tenure, and he assured the public in future to work towards bringing more development in constituency.
The conference was also attended by PHED Minister, I Hemochandra; Social Welfare Minister, AK Mirabai; Khangbok MLA, O Landhoni; Commerce and Industry Minister, Govindas Konthoujam and other Congress legislators and party workers.
