On 9th August, another history was created. ‘Another’, because first was created in 1942 during Quit India Movement when Gandhi along with his companions was arrested by British. On this 9th August, here in Manipur, Irom Sharmila who moved on the path of non violence (Gandhi was also a follower of non violence) for 16 years (since the year 2000 to the year 2016), tried to bring her struggle in another form through quitting her 16 years long hunger fast.

Senapati, Aug 14: Taking serious note of the recent bomb blast incidents in Senapati district and threats from militant groups, Senapati police led by SP K Kabib in coordination with respective police station OC have beefed up security measures to ensure Independence Day is observed peacefully in Senapati district HQs.
The celebration is scheduled to be held at Senapati Public Ground and will be attended by district elected members and officials.
According to police source, 8 mobile units, 5 foot patrol unit backed by 3 CRPF team and Assam Rifles teams with sniffer dogs and bomb detectors have been pressed into action since August 12.
